the happy bride in COPENHAGEN

We are getting settled in here in Copenhagen, where we'll be living for the next 8 months.  Our apartment is in Christianshavn, on a little island in the middle of the city, surrounded by canals.

The building is an historic one, called Heerings Gård, or Heering House.  It was formerly the headquarters for Heering Cherry Liqueur, one of the original ingredients in the cocktail, the Singapore Sling.  Nowadays, it is the headquarters for the Nordea Foundation and has 4 apartments.  There is a museum devoted to the history of banking in our building.  And then there is our apartment!

Our apartment is named "Kongens Have" which means "King's Garden."  It's so fancy!  Everything is so modern and Danish!  I love it!  The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything we'll need for our entire stay.  And the rest of the home comes with everything else, sheets, towels, pillows, office supplies, TV, sound system, an iPad, coffee maker, toaster, vacuum, hair dryer, etc.

This is where the magic happens:

This is the dining room, with a table that seats 8!

And this is our cozy living room.  Can't you just feel the hygge?

The apartment has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  The bathrooms have heated floors!

Our bedroom is an office/bedroom combo, which I think is pretty neat.

Gaius' room is bright and sunny with a big desk where he can do his homework.

The apartment comes with a storage area for us to put things like our suitcases and dead bodies.  There is also a little storage room for bicycles, with a magically opening door.

Our apartment overlooks a huge courtyard that empties out right in front of a canal.  In the canal are these huge swans, the size of greyhounds.  Well, maybe smaller than greyhounds, but definitely larger than whippets.

Another amazing thing about this apartment is that it comes with maid service once a month.  I think I'm in heaven!

Jeg smutter igen!  (I'm off!)
